SEO Fundamentals

SEO definition

The world of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is ever-changing but understanding the basics can make a big difference as you build your website and brand’s visibility online.

SEO is the practise of increasing the quality and quantity of traffic to your website, through organic search engine results. To do this, it’s important to understand what users are searching for online, the answers they are seeking, and the language or words they are using to see out specific content.

There are different factors to think about when getting started with SEO:

  • On-page SEO: This everything that is on your website, such as text, images, video, HTML tags, structured data, ALT tags, meta data etc.
  • Off-page SEO: This is anything that isn’t on your website but can be used to demonstrate trust and relevance. Things such as link building, PPC marketing, reviews, and user generated content.
  • Technical SEO: This includes the things that will affect your website, such as how search engines index or crawl the site, page speed, site structure and more.
