How Does WhatsApp Communities Work?

WhatsApp communities is a feature that allows large organisations to manage all their WhatsApp groups in one place. Members of this community can send messages to the primary group, or to the subgroups.

Communities are helpful for larger organisations to bring related groups to a single place. For example, an educational institute can bring several class groups into a community and manage them efficiently.

When you make a new community, it creates an Announcement group with you as the admin. This allows you to reach members with important updates, regardless of the subgroup they are in, without the need to forward the text to different WhatsApp groups.

In contrast to this, if you send a message to a subgroup, only that group sees it.

Here are some helpful things you can do in groups that are part of communities:

  • Create events.
  • Share polls.
  • React to messages.
  • Share files.
  • Controls for admins.
  • Reply to community announcements.

8 Ways to Refresh Your Website Content

Refreshing outdated content is one of the most effective ways to boost traffic and engagement. Start by using Google Search Console to identify pages with little to no traffic or declining performance. Review these pieces carefully—check for outdated information, thin content, broken links, or topics that no longer align with your brand. In many cases, content can be updated, consolidated with related posts, or optimised with new keywords rather than deleted outright. However, if a page is beyond saving, remove it and redirect the URL to a more relevant live page. Regularly pruning and refining your content not only improves user experience but also helps maintain strong search rankings.

WhatsApp introduced the feature ‘channels’, allowing users to get information and relevant updates from businesses or people of interest directly in the app. Channel updates appear in a separate tab of the app, away from your personal chats and calls, under ‘Updates’.
