How the Low Carbon Mentorship Programmes Transforming Business Sustainability

Groundwork hosted a celebration event at Meridian House for the businesses who participated in the Low Carbon Mentorship program. The event was attended by individuals from each business, alongside MP Andrew Cooper, who was there to hand out certificates to those who completed the program. This was followed with time to celebrate and network.

Businesses across the region are making significant strides toward sustainability thanks to the Low Carbon Mentorship program: equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge to implement actionable carbon reduction strategies.

Through a structured training and mentoring package, participants received:

  • An in-person, 2-day IEMA ‘Pathways to Net Zero’ training course
  • On-site support visits to help apply learnings in real-world business settings
  • A series of expert-led webinars on key sustainability topics
  • Ongoing mentorship to guide them through their net-zero journey
  • Free membership to the Groundwork Sustainable Business network, offering additional resources and peer-learning opportunities
The initiative has already demonstrated impressive results in helping companies transition to more sustainable operations:
  • 33 businesses participated in the programme.
  • All businesses created bespoke decarbonisation action plans.
  • 31 businesses achieved the IEMA Pathways to Net Zero accreditation.
Participants received ongoing support, including on-site visits, webinars, and tailored mentoring to further develop and implement their decarbonisation action plans.

By equipping businesses with the knowledge and tools they need, the program is helping to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable, low-carbon economy. Learn more about sustainability training here.
